The paper proposes a multi-factor explanation for why a meaningful share of Hispanic and Latino voters supported Republican candidates, including Donald Trump. It combines identity heterogeneity, cultural conservatism, economic evaluation, political memory, and immigration-enforcement salience rather than treating ethnicity as a complete voting model.
